Our Story

It is incredible how one small idea can grow into something truly special. Pyle & Kenfig Hill Veterans Association is rooted in the belief that we all have an inherent responsibility to make a meaningful difference to the Armed Forces Community.

Back in November 2022, a group of veterans and friends got together to commemorate Armistice Day and after a visit to Pyle Royal British Legion, got talking to Lee and Sarah Grabham, landlords of the establishment about the need to have a dedicated veterans association within the Pyle, Kenfig Hill and surrounding areas.

Within a few weeks of this discussion, plans were afoot on how the association could be created and launched and what was required to make it a success.

On January 7th 2023, the soft launch of the association saw an incredible number of serving military personnel, veterans, their families and external support providers attend which showed that the area needed the support network that the management board had a vision for and since its inception, the association has gained massively in members with the support of local organisations and the local authority and town council.

The association was formed with six key objectives and aims:

1.To provide a support service to veterans and serving personnel and their families.

2.To promote peer-to-peer advice in a relaxed environment.

3.To work alongside other organisations in order to promote unity and integration into that community.

4.To fundraise and organise functions or events for veterans and serving personnel and their families.

5.To offer guidance and advice to those interested in joining the military and to utilise the association as a drop-in centre.

6.To support the local community and give visibility to veterans and serving personnel and their families in the Kenfig Hill, Pyle and surrounding area(s).
